Kia ora, we are Johanna and Neil, a German – Australian artist couple. When we need house sitters, we’d be looking for people with experience in farm animal care. We have a small herd of 9 Nubian goats, make cheese and love good food and cooking. Part of the whanau are also 2 large dogs, 2 cats and a flock of Orpington chickens. Our 2 ha property North of Dunedin is 10 min drive from the center of town. It has amazing views over the Otago harbour and peninsula, but no public transport. The post & beam farm house is hand-built, has a Rayburn range for heating and cooking, an additional gas stove and large fridge/freezer. Sleeping and study is upstairs under the roof, via a steep staircase. The house is utilitarian, open plan living, and built by hand. This house sit requires an active lifestyle, including feeding out, mucking out and collecting firewood / making fire on a daily basis. The drive and verandah are yet to be finished, along with other bits and pieces in and around the house. There is plenty of room to park a campervan/caravan on site, and always plenty of good food in the fridge and freezer, including home-made cheeses; fresh potatoes and artichokes; and fresh eggs.
