Energetic Mature Healthy Professional – Animal Lover & Athlete

About

I am a self-employed entrepreneur (and New Zealand company director); a businesswomen combined with being an athlete! In my business, As an Organisational Leadership Coach / Consultant, I work with leaders and their teams to elevate work life successes. Predominantly I work remotely (hence a reliable internet connection is important).

On a personal level, I am a competing master’s athlete and have represented country and state in numerous sports over my life (hence my business focus is on the sport sector and have worked a great deal with Sport NZ & High Performance Sport NZ!)

(Oh – and don’t be confused by the name – I am a female!!)

I am an Australian citizen, with NZ residency (since 2017) and have lived in Wellington (but am open to a location change).

My most obvious attributes are my love of the “active outdoors” and my passion for animal welfare. I always wanted to be a vet (in fact, I even applied to Sydney University as a mature student a few years ago). I grew up with horses (and rode equestrian sports for the country as a teenager) plus in Australia I am a qualified WIRES (wildlife rescue) volunteer. I have always been known for my love of animals and how they trust me quickly. A share a key experience that I will never forget. Years ago, I was driving rurally at night & was the 1st passerby to stop and help a racehorse owner on the side of the road. Her horse had panicked inside the horse-float & somehow managed to crash its way through the small front window.  The poor animal was thrashing & in pain; the owner sent their colleague to get a vet (and I distinctly recall her saying the vet needed to bring a gun. So, it was a dire situation). I was the sole person taking care of the front end of the horse and I held its entire head (possibly for almost 2 hours) soothing and calming it so that others could more easily try and release its tangled legs in the float). Long story short – the horse survived and I had to throw away my clothing from all the blood stains. A very rewarding experience as I truly believe I was an important part of that rescue.

Besides work, I compete in endurance events (road & gravel cycling & mountain biking) and am also a qualified cycle coach. Hence at least an hour a day is spent training (I am pretty dedicated and passionate about my sport performance; won the NZ Cycling Championship for my age in 2023. Yay – at long last; have failed more times than I care to admit 😂)!

My young adorable, friendly, easy-going, house-trained basset hound is my “kid” and a massive part of my life!!!

A bit more about my background. My parents are both from UK; I grew up in (colonial) Zimbabwe; completing my university education in South Africa. Was a Partner at a global executive search firm in the ’90’s reporting into London; then went on to create my own firm, which I successfully sold some 8 years later when I emigrated to Australia in 2004.

Additionally, my family have always been involved in property (my dad still owns a real estate business!). Hence, I have a significant passion for real estate, both career-wise and personally, having developed, re-furbished & turned-around properties several times. I am a very home-proud person with my homes appealing to the eye and well-maintained. Not surprisingly, whenever I have rented homes over the last decade, I am very much the favoured tenant. In Sydney, the landlady went the extra mile so as not want to lose me and provided me extra benefits so I would stay!! (references also supplied by managing agents)

Personality-wise I am described as very organised, self-disciplined, reliable, hard-working, intelligent, down-to-earth, social and engaging, consistently behaving with high standards and integrity. I add inspiration; am enthusiastic and positive. Additionally, I have been through many instances of self-driven change, so am very resilient and independent!

As a business leader and having captained sport teams, I have proved my problem-solving & decision-making capabilities and comfort in taking responsibility.

So why do I want to house-sit right now? Because certain dreams and aspirations didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to. So, it’s time to reconsider my direction and am open to creating the space to do this through house-sitting.

And finally, if it gives you a sense of comfort, I have multiple references that I can share with you immediately plus many police clearance certificates that date years back (they have been a necessity in my work)
