Description
We have a 3 bedroom light and comfortable home in the lovely seaside village of Paekākāriki, just 35-45 minutes north of Wellington.
We have a shy collie x dog called Iggy who needs walking once a day minimum (she is always up for more if you feel like it, but is fine with once a day), and a friendly cat called Percy.
Our dog is shy to start with, but will get used to you over time. She is really good about being left at home alone.
You are welcome to bring your own dog, if it will be ok with our cat (our cat thinks dogs are her friends).
We also have a lovely 18 year old who boards at our place who won’t be coming with us. She lives upstairs, and isn’t completely sure on her holiday plans yet. It is very likely she will be away for a good chunk of this time, and if not, then will spend quite a bit of time at her boyfriends place, and will be working lots. She comes and goes a lot, likes her own space and is very easy company when she is around. If she is around for dinner, and you’re in, we would appreciate it if you included her.
We have houseplants that would need watering weekly, and if you could do the lawns, too, that would be ace (we aren’t very fussy about them, so just keeping on top of them is enough).
Our bed is a comfy super king, and there are 2 other bedrooms (our teenagers’ rooms), with a queen in one, and a double in the other.
We also have a couple of bikes, a kayak, lots of books, chromecast, a lovely sofa for lounging on, and really nice neighbours.
Paekākāriki is known for its community vibe. We have a very well stocked dairy, a fruit and vege shop, 3 great cafes, a friendly pub with decent pub grub, and regular music on at the hall. The train is a great way to get in and out of Wellington (about 45 mins), or it is a short 35 minute drive. Our house is a 15 minute walk from the train station, and there is free parking at the station.
QE Park is very close to our house, with lots of walking and biking options, and of course the beach is only a 5 minute walk away. We are on the Te Araora Trail, you can do the Escarpment Walk from here, if you wish.
