Hi there, we are a couple in our 50s, who live on an 11 acre Permaculture lifestyle block 15 km from New Plymouth CBD, 10 km from our nearest beach in Bell Block and 29km from Egmont Visitor Centre, the closest access point to Mount Taranaki from us. We’ve been hosting Wwoofers for many years and are used to strangers in our house. On our block we have a large vege garden, a food forest, paddocks, a small creek and some bush. We have free roaming chooks and turkeys, a flock of sheep and a dog. There is no garden work to do, but occasional lawn mowing would be nice. You’ll need to feed the poultry 0nce a day and look after the dog. The sheep won’t need much looking after in winter, we’ll leave the gates open, so that they have plenty to eat. But you can also call on our neighbour, if you have any questions. You will need your own car, as we live in the country. As for the dates, you could either do the whole lot (2+ months) or shorter spells
from 2nd to 16th July, 31st to 13th August or 28th to 10th Sept. If you do the whole lot, Joe will pop in (announced and short) occasionally to do his laundry and look after the sheep, but we can explain that to you in detail when you contact us. The house is a cosy farm cottage with a heat pump in living area. There is unlimited Wifi (fast enough to watch movies) and lots of books, games and DVDs. We also have a cool outdoor bath/shower. Feel free to eat food from the food forest and garden, however, winter is not the most productive of times. There are also yummy eggs. We are looking forward to hearing from you! Carmen and Joe
