Description
We’re looking for someone to look after our much loved pets while we’re away from Christmas through to late January.
We live in Gladstone, Wairarapa, 20 minutes to both Masterton and Carterton, and 25 minutes to Martinborough. We live in a villa/bungalow on a small block with our two dogs (little border terrier cross and medium sized border collie/kelpie cross), 6 chooks (fresh eggs!), one pet lamb and 14 paddock lambs and ewes.
The dogs and pet lamb love attention, but are pretty self sufficient – the dogs get fed twice a day.
We have an automatic waterer for the chooks, and their feeder needs refilling twice a week or so.
The vege garden is a bit unruly atm, but there is always plenty of food to be found; by the time we’re away there should be tomatoes, courgettes, lettuce, berries etc. It will need occasional watering, as will the house plants.
The sheep may need moving while we’re away, but they’re pretty well versed and know what to do when you open the gates.
We have three big pohutakawas in the paddock next to the house which normally flower just after Christmas. They are then filled with tui, which is really special and makes us loath to go away over January!
We have good internet and cell coverage if you need to work from home, but hopefully you’ll get to hang out on the deck and enjoy the view while the pohutakawas are flowering!
We appreciate many people will already have plans for Christmas, so we are open to sorting a kennel for a few days or roping in the neighbours over that period.
