Seaside lifestyle property with animals | Diamond Harbour, Canterbury

Our 2 storey home is settled in Purau Bay, opposite Lyttelton Harbour, near Christchurch city (45 mins drive from the city and 50mins from the airport).  It is located on a  5.6ha lifestyle property that is snuggled into a valley that gets all day sun and our “farm” gate is located 330m from a quiet beach.  We have a number of animals that are part of our farm family – pigs x 2, dogs x 2, budgies x 3, chicken and sheep – and are looking for a house sitter who is comfortable feeding all the animals and moving sheep if necessary (they are very tame and follow the rattle of sheep nuts in a bucket) for a month from June 20th – July 19th 2024 when we go to Australia.

Our home is heated with a wood burning fire and has heaters in the bedrooms.  The wood burner has a triple wet-back installed that provides underfloor heating down stairs and warms the whole living area. It is very cosy snuggling up in the lounge looking out over the bay with the fire going on a winters day. We will make sure the woodshed is well stocked for your stay.

Purau Bay is very scenic and has some unique historic sites to explore and some great walking and biking opportunities.  Diamond Harbour, the closest village, has a supermarket, Restaurant/ Brewery and Fish’n’chip shop (8mins drive away) and the ferry to Lyttelton, that connects with the local metro bus to the city, is located at the Diamond Harbour wharf only 4 mins drive away (50 min walk).  Lyttelton has lots of great restaurants, pubs, shops and cafe’s and a wonderful farmers market on Saturday morning that is definitely worth a ferry ride.

Other interesting places on the Banks Peninsula to explore are Stoddart house gallery/ gift shop, beautiful Orton Bradley park, Port Levy settlement, Little River Pub and village and the french settlement of Akaroa.
