Description
We have a lovely top-floor unit in Hataitai, Wellington that overlooks Evans Bay. (single level 3br, 1 bath, office, kitchen, living & dining.) We are looking for someone to take care of our INDOOR ONLY cats while we are away visiting family overseas. Plus water plants, keep an eye on the property, and contact our landlord if any problems arise.
We have two cats: Kip, a 2yo boy with only three legs who is very friendly and playful and likes to be carried around. And Twyla, a 2yo girl who is shy and will take some coaxing, but who is a loving lap cat once she feels comfortable. Both are healthy with no behavioral issues and fully litter box trained with no accidents. Sometimes they do have hairballs, though.
You must be comfortable keeping litter boxes very neat and tidy and MUST be responsible for keeping the cats inside, managing both windows and doors to keep them safe. If they get lost or fall we will be devastated and my kids will be heartbroken. You will provide all care for them, plus handle any accidents (though I hope there will be none).
Access to the property is up a steep hill with steps, and then our unit is the second floor of a house, so this is not a good opportunity for anyone with mobility issues. The reward for walking up is a near-panoramic view of the airport and bay, with Miramar and the Remutakas in the background. Parking is on the street, or if you don’t have a car the bus stop (#14) is right on the street, very easy access. Amenities of the house include a good working desk, dishwasher, washing machine (no dryer but a drying rack and there’s a laundromat in walking distance), WiFi, a big TV, a heat pump in the living room, and a nice radiator in the bedroom. There are people in the two units below, so be respectful with regards to noise and disturbances. All close neighbors are either friendly or quietly mind their own business.
Hataitai is a great neighborhood with a nice town center (walkable from the house) where you can get a coffee or pick up dinner and grab some basic groceries. It’s an easy bus ride into Wellington city for museums and culture, and Kilburnie/Lyall Bay are nearby for shopping and eating out.
If you need to arrive a few days early or stay a few days later in order to arrange your travel, that’s fine and we can discuss details.
